If you’re a true music aficionado, then you probably know that the tale behind an artist can enrich the experience of listening to their music.
T-Bruin‘s Stuck On Earth is one of the rare albums I include in my personal playlist. The concept of the production alone creates such a brilliant vibe you can’t help but enjoy this EP. There is a history behind it and knowing what it is about, changes the whole experience.
The project encompasses old-school hip-hop but is translated into a modern experience that brings you back to the roots of T-Bruin’s musical style.
It has taken me back to when the days of great music were simple and not overproduced, but interesting and unique at the same time. You can listen to our full playlist which contains T-Bruin’s music, and know more about the artist by scrolling down the page.
No one can deny the importance of established legends in hip-hop music. Groups like Public Enemy, Cypress Hill and Nas made a huge impact on rap music in the 90s while Eminem and 50 Cent succeeded with punch lines and raw lyrics.
More recently, Common, Andre 3000 (OutKast) and Kanye worked in the spotlight. But there’s one problem: too many old-school rappers are holding on to the past because they’re too scared to try something new, which doesn’t apply to T-Bruin.
We got spoiled a bit by the two previous producers of PopHits.Co who chose T-Bruin’s songs for our curation session, so the modern flow of “Sun Glazing” was really a great listen. The whole EP Stuck On Earth is very straightforward, but with a unique “retro-soul” sound that perfectly fits the theme and lyrics.
T-Bruin is an independent hip-hop artist based in New York City, so it’s no surprise that his influences are diverse, as well as the great talent he possesses.
We can say that his EP, Stuck On Earth, is a soulful rap album that will take you back to a time when hip-hop was about the art of lyricism, not just beats and catchy hooks.
The EP starts out with “Sun Gazing,” a song that sets the tone for the entire album: it’s dreamy and full of hope. This is followed by “My Universe” which features some great verses from T-Bruin as a composer, as well as his talent as a producer. This song has an old-school feel with its metal effect melodies and drum machine beats, but it also includes modern elements like synth sounds that give it an updated feel by downtempo style.
If you’re looking for an escape from reality through new music, look no further than the new EP from T-Bruin, check it out and follow the artist on Spotify.
