Will Lisil 7 January 2023
Mr Macee

There are a lot of great new songs coming out every week, but it’s hard to follow the indie hip-hop scene.

Every month we put together a playlist for our music news portals featuring the newest tunes, so we always mention rising artists in the scene.

In this post, we want to give you an overview of these new releases — the best songs to be released in the past months — so you can incorporate them into your playlists and stay up-to-date too.

Vinny Lunar releasing Chauffeur

Let’s consider that there’s a lot of Hip-Hop music out there, but some can be so generic. There’s something special about listening to music that makes you hit the replay button. That’s why we came up with this selection.

These are our picks for some of the best new music you need to listen to this week in hip-hop. You can listen to our full playlist which contains the artists’ music, and know more about the artists by scrolling down the page.

1) JEWLEYOUSE MERANCES – Low Confidence

Hip-hop and rap music is a staples of American culture, and we’re always looking for the next big thing.

Now, we’ve found it. Jewleyouse Merances is a buzzing rapper whose latest single is entitled “Low Confidences”, and rap phenom Jewleyouse Merances is a Chicago rapper who is determined to leave a lasting mark.

His music is colossal and cinematic and he combines a great deal of raw talent with remarkable showmanship. He is one of the most prolific rappers to emerge from the Windy City music scene.

JEWLEYHOUSE MERANCES, in this song, talks about women who have low self-esteem and are prepared to settle down for a man who does not treat them right, which is a controversial subject, but I am sure this song will be a big hit.

Combined with the fact that his voice is so different, as well as the sound he has too, I am sure that he will be on the charts soon!

Don’t miss out on him, you won’t regret it, check it out, you will love it just as much as I did, follow him on his Spotify, and check out his website to find out more about him!

2) VINNY LUNAR – Chauffeur

In the past year, we’ve seen a lot of artists try their hand at world music and more specifically, Afrobeats. But none have been able to pull off this sound like VINNY LUNAR from Australia.

Adapting. Evolving. Assuming form. Vinny has gained a greater sense of confidence and self-assuredness than ever before, cruising with his ally and companion, Low Beams – and us – along for the ride with him.

It deals with racism, identity confusion, and the emotional volatility of growing up brown in a settler nation, but it uses a trans-genre R&B to make it work. As well as making it a BOP.

VINNY LUNAR’s music is full of catchy choruses and vocal loops that are guaranteed to get stuck in your head for days on end. His voice is smooth and rich, like caramel or honey

The only thing I found myself doing after listening to the 5-track EP is repeating the songs every time I listen to it, they are just so good that I just can’t help but repeat them.

It is definitely a great song, I believe VINNY LUNAR has a great future ahead of them, and I am sure they will embrace it fully. Check it out, visit their website, and follow the artist on Spotify!

3) BLOODLIN3 – Execution Day (feat. Bizzy Bone & AC Killer)

When it comes to rap music, there are a lot of artists who get their start in the US. But you don’t see many who come from El Paso, Texas and Paducah, Kentucky, or that make such great music.

That’s why we’re so excited about BLOODLIN3, an independent group that has just released their new single “Execution Day (feat. Bizzy Bone & AC Killer).”

In addition to being an independent music group, they are made up of 3 brothers (2Severe, Quiji, and Mallachi). Getting tired of hearing the same style of rap over and over again, they decided to come up with the song called “Execution Day” along with the legendary Bizzy Bone in order to break into the rap game and bring some diversity to the genre.

My first reaction to hearing the song was to stop and come back to see how different it sounded from everything I was used to hearing, almost like hip-hop from the 90s, but slightly edgier.

That’s one of my favourite songs, it’s great for workouts or simply for getting your day started in a fast-paced manner. Check it out, visit their website, and follow the artist on Spotify to hear some more awesome music!

4) BONE$ THE SPITTA – Revenge

It’s been a long time coming for BONE$ THE SPITTA, but it feels like the rapper has made his mark in the industry.

Revenge is the newest single from BONE$ THE SPITTA, and it’s already making waves with its hard beat and dark lyrics. The song is just under two minutes long, but it packs quite a punch in that short amount of time.

A few words about Bone$ the Spitta himself: ”I’m a rapper and producer creating my own unique style of rap music with a dark twist to it”

From what I heard of the song, Bone$ has a pretty unique style, and he sticks to it in his portfolio, and its actually amazing how well he keeps up with it, consistency exists in abundance in this artist!

If you’ve never listened to BONE$ before, now is the perfect time to start! Check out his website where you can listen to more of his music—and if you like what you hear then follow him on Spotify where he regularly posts new tracks.

5) LPARLEY – Marmalade

LParley, a Brighton-based producer born in London, has released a new single called “Marmalade”, and you should check it out.

By combining Foley and live analogue recording, LParley created the heavy, deeply atmospheric track ‘Marmalade’. The complex and rich music he has composed flickers as it emerges.

Lparley about the song: “I let the Foley, I record dictate the direction of the track, with this it was 35mm Camera shutters, footsteps & skips being bashed by contorting bits of household waste, during a windy night. It felt rugged but rousing, so set about offsetting the grit, with live strings & lazy flows containing pleasant imagery. There is a specific meaning in my mind, but I love to leave narratives open to interpretation, I think of it like an audible Rorschach test, let the meaning you find tell you more about yourself than it does about me!”

Matt Colton (James Blake, FKA twigs) mastered the track. The first single from the forthcoming EP is to be released early this year.

Currently, LParley has been touring across the UK and Europe with US hip-hop duo Marlowe as part of their European tour. There will be a one-off, intimate show at Earth in Hackney featuring Hip Hop Saved My Life with Romesh Ranganathan on Sunday 20th November as part of this project. Now check it out, visit their website for his tour dates, and follow the artist on Spotify!

6) MR MACEE – Make A Mill

If you’re a fan of UK rap, then you’re probably familiar with the name MR MACEE. This Birmingham-based artist is known for his raw and gritty style, as well as his ability to create bangers that get stuck in your brain and won’t let go.

Mr Macee is an artist that has continued to be supported by local radio stations, including BBC Introducing, BBC 1Xtra adding BB6 to the list after Mr Macee’s track My Black Life Matters was picked for the number one spot on BBC 6 and BBC introducing mixtape Black history month special.

Initially, I thought the song would be a generic UK hip-hop/drill song, but it is not. In my opinion, this track is incredibly different, and the creativity that’s been put into this track is really extraordinary, and I hope to see MR MACEE on the charts very soon, as I really want this new sound to succeed.

As of this writing, he has performed on line-ups with Rag’n’Bone Man, James Arthur, Pa Salieu, Angel, Fuse ODG, Mo Stack, Dapz on the Map, and Freddie McGregor, among many others.

In 2022, Mr Macee appeared at several music festivals, including the Commonwealth Games Festival. He has definitely made his mark within the UK music scene and we look forward to an exciting 2023 and beyond for this multi-talented and diverse artist.

If you’re looking for something new to listen to on Spotify, check out Make A Mill by MR MACEE and follow the artist on Twitter!

7) OAKLEY GRENELL – Buss Dance

The UK has been home to some of the most influential and creative artists in the world, from The Beatles to Adele. This year, OAKLEY GRENELL is making a name for himself with his single Buss Dance.

It’s a banger that will get you dancing and singing along because it’s just so super catchy! The beat itself has hints of reggae, but it’s more of a pop-inflected version of dancehall than anything else, and it’s super catchy.

The vocals are sharp, crisp, and clear throughout the track; they’re perfect for this kind of song. And while he may not be as widely known as some other UK rappers (yet), his flow on this track is definitely worth checking out! Visit their website, and follow the artist on Spotify!

8) MILLIE BLOOMS – Multiply

Millie Blooms is a promising new artist from the UK with a sound that’s unlike anything you’ve heard before. She combines elements of R&B, hip-hop, and pop to create an anthem that’s sure to hit #1 on the charts.

With ‘Multiply’, Millie Blooms closes out her debut year via all major streaming services on Friday 25th November 2022.

From a conceptual standpoint, the song explores the experiences Millie has faced in the music industry and continues to face. This is a call to arms for all those who, like Millie, do everything themselves and are constantly questioned, regardless of whether they are artists, entrepreneurs or women.

Taking part in this event is all about celebrating those who have achieved success, and accomplishments, and strive to achieve more. Check it out, visit her website, and follow the artist on Spotify!

9) DIONEESUS – Social Media Masterpiece

If you’re a fan of alternative pop and indie R&B, then you’ll want to check out the new single from Pittsburgh-based artist Dioneeseus. ‘Social Media Masterpiece’ explores the emotional effects of social media on our mental health.

Najj Andrea provides guest vocals on this track, which captivates the listener. The track begins with a psychedelic hip-hop instrumental that sets the stage for lush R&B vocals from Najj Andrea and avant-garde hip-hop/spoken word delivery from Dioneesus.

In a world that places a greater emphasis on likes, comments, and thirst traps, the song carries the listener through waves of emotions of digital device addiction.

Dioneesus produced the track in Woodstock Studios in May 2022 after writing it in Pittsburgh. It is Dioneesus and Najj Andrea’s third collaboration. Now that you know everything about this amazing partnership, check it out, visit his website, and follow the artist on Spotify!

10) LOVE GHOST – Venganza Del Fantasma

Love Ghost‘s Venganza Del Fantasma EP is a banger. It’s edgy, it’s catchy, and it’s full of energy. If you’re looking for something new, in a fusion of rap and rocky sounds to listen to this weekend, check out the 4-track EP from this Los Angeles-based alternative band.

The EP “VENGANZA DEL FANTASMA” is a compilation of four songs performed by four acclaimed Latin artists- Santa RM (Mexico), Cornejo (East Los Angeles), Vanity Vercetti (Spain) and Lou Cornego (Spain). It is important to note that all of the songs feature both English and Spanish lyrics

Ghost Town is both Western Cowboy and Futuristic Cyber Punk, surrounded by mystery. With acclaimed Mexican musician Santa RM, this collaboration tackles mental health issues, loneliness, and spiritual battles with demons. The song was produced by Mike Summers. Check it out, visit their website, watch their music video and follow the artist on Spotify!
