Beatific Beats: Venturing Into HipHop, Drill, and Funk

Will Lisil 6 October 2023

Calling all beat seekers! Step into the vibrant landscapes of hip-hop, the stark corners of Drill, and the infectious rhythms of Funk.

Our music review article “Beatific Beats: Venturing Into HipHop, Drill, and Funk,” unveils the latest tracks, exceptional independent artists and an engagingly curated playlist.

Setting off in the rich culture of hip-hop, we spotlight independent rhythm makers who infuse their lyrics with life. Transitioning into the Drill scene, we navigate a music style known for its brooding tone and intense, often autobiographical lyrics. Rounding off, we land in the colourful carnival of Funk, spotlighting artists who turn the blend of soul, jazz and a hearty groove into an exhilarating sonic journey.

1) PHILLY MACHETE – PARADISE

Philly Machete, a Sweden-based independent artist from Lund, is making waves by creating a hybrid sound that emanates from Scandinavian and Nordic-influenced cultures. This dynamic artist has recently released an innovative track “Paradise” which is a delightful concoction of Drill and Hip-hop. Mesmerizing listeners all over with his unique and super-edgy music, Philly Machete showcases immense talent and potential in an overcrowded music scene.

“Lyrical acrobatics combined with raw, male vocals” describes Philly Machete’s music, which echoes prominent artists in the Rap genre such as Kendrick Lamar and Tyler, The Creator. “Paradise” truly reflects the creative reach of Philly Machete’s distinct Hip-hop styling. The single’s infectious energy and masterful fusion of Drill and Rap make it an absolute banger, impossible to ignore.

Now is the time to check out Philly Machete and discover a new world of auditory pleasure. If you’re interested in the Scandinavian and Nordic-based culture and artists, visit his FaceBook or follow Philly Machete on Spotify for more of his captivating music. Don’t forget to like and listen to our playlist featuring Paradise and other fantastic tracks from this rising star.

2) EL MONKO – Feelin like Samson

Hailing from Coos Bay, United States, EL MONKO is making a significant impact on the Hip-hop scene with his remarkable single, “Feelin like Samson”. He has expertly crafted a sound that masterfully captures the heart of US-based culture and delivers an unforgettable performance with his distinctive male vocals.

As an independent artist, EL MONKO brings a fresh perspective to the Rap genre, reminiscent of renowned US Rap artists like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. His music effortlessly blends the traditional elements of the genre with innovative production techniques. Fans have notably praised the track, stating, “Feelin like Samson has an unmatched quality that leaves listeners mesmerized.”

Don’t miss out on this incredible musical talent; dive into the world of EL MONKO by checking out the single “Feelin like Samson” yourself. Make sure to visit their YouTube, follow the artist on Spotify, and like and listen to our playlist for more exceptional music.

3) BREON S.Y.N.D.E.L – Recovery 2

He’s none other than Brooklyn’s own Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L, an independent artist who’s making waves in the US-based culture of Hip-hop and EMO Rap. His EP, “Recovery 2”, is an intricate tapestry of cutting-edge US rap fused with a touch of traditional R&B. His sound is evocative, carrying into it expressions of stories seen through the crisp framework of male vocals.

Quite reminiscent of redefining hip-hop stars like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, Breon is a force who’s mastered autotune to an organic whole with his unique harmony. “Recovery 2” contains what I can only be described as a “Sonic Revolution.” His tracks are not just songs, but intimate narratives packaged in a neat mix of euphonious beats and rhythmic verses.

Wanting more of this newfound favourite? ‘Check it out’, is all I can suggest. I strongly urge you to visit his YouTube, follow Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L on Spotify, and not forget to also like and listen to our playlist. Don’t merely listen to music, feel it. His songs are anthems, filled with enough emotion and power to resound within the deepest pits of your soul.

4) NASMORE – Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?

Emerging out of Canada’s cultural hotbed, Regina, the independent artist NASMORE displays a potent blend of HIP-HOP and FUNK in their latest single, “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” Their flair for crafting anthemic tracks echoes the famed melodies of Beastie Boys, yet NASMORE brings a dash of uniqueness infusing Canadian-based culture into their RAP ROCK creations. “It’s an extraordinary swing between nostalgic and new, punctuated by a suave groove that compels you to move,” says a prominent critic praising the single.

If you’re big on tunes that maintain a SUPER CATCHY rhythm while showcasing a deep respect for HIP-HOP origins, NASMORE is just the ticket. Their persuasive RAP verses harmoniously pair with a ROCK POP background, making you subconsciously nod in rhythm. Think Outkast’s wordplay talent, combined with Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ knack for ROCK, that’s the tantalizing ride NASMORE promises to take you on.

“Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” is both a tribute to the charming COVERS and a dedication to the artist’s pioneering spirit. The track’s rhythmic charm and nostalgic undertones resonate, urging listeners to reconnect with the timeless motif of music. NASMORE invites fans to experience their definitive style. Check it out, visit their website, follow the artist on Spotify, and like and listen to our playlist. You might just be witnessing the dawn of a new groove era.
