D Signature Writes Through Miles, From Mountain to Climb to Why

The London-Based Jamaican Writer Lets Proverbs, Patois and Plain Talk Carry 23 Reggae Songs

On Miles, D Signature writes his hooks into his titles. Mountain to Climb, Isn’t a Walk in the Park and Wen Di Dice Toss read like proverbs before a single beat plays. The album stacks twenty-three of them into one reggae and dancehall record, released on 7 October 2024. N-jay Dadz features on five of those songs, and Brina British joins him on the closer.

D Signature’s opener Mountain to Climb sits in the playlist below. The full record of this network’s coverage of him lives on his artist profile. Miles came to RapStar.News through PopHits.Co Music Charts, the programme that verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles. Press play on the opener, then keep reading for the other twenty-two tracks.

The Hooks on D Signature Miles Start in the Titles

D Signature is the recording name of Davion Gowie, a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He was born in the parish of Saint Mary, Jamaica, and now works out of London. He built Miles over roughly two years in his own home studio, and the finished record runs to 74 minutes. Apple Music files it under reggae. Nearly two years after release, he is putting it back in front of listeners. The writing is the best reason to go back.

Start with the hooks. A strong dancehall hook is often a phrase the listener already knows, given a new flip. Isn’t a Walk in the Park takes a stock English idiom and turns it into a song title. Wen Di Dice Toss does the same job in patois, so chance becomes a four-word hook. Meanwhile, Money and Gyal is three words of pure pocket. Two titles even carry a second name in brackets: Mafia Money (God Father Savage) and Again & Again (Addicted). That is a writer’s way of giving one track two hooks.

RapStar.News has followed him closely this summer. This desk covered his eleven-track album Landslide from 2023, and then the video for Jah Protection, a 2025 single. In release order, Miles sits between the two. At twenty-three tracks, it is also the largest body of work of the three.

What D Signature Puts in the Verse Across Twenty-Three Songs

The writing moves in two registers. Some titles stay in patois, such as Tell Yuh Bout, Dutty Heart and Wen Di Dice Toss. Others go straight to plain English, for example Look Me in the Eyes, Fit the Puzzle and Honour. On the tracklist, neither register reads as a costume. Instead, the switch between them is the style. It is also the most dancehall thing about a record filed as reggae.

Read the titles in order and the subject comes into view. Solitude, connection and the passage of time are the threads, so the sequence gives each one its own stretch. First, the opening run leans on struggle and faith: Mountain to Climb, Risen King, Isn’t a Walk in the Park. Then the middle holds the street titles, Money and Gyal, Mafia Money (God Father Savage) and Butcher. Finally, the closing stretch turns to love and loyalty, from Look Me in the Eyes through Golden Love and Again & Again (Addicted).

That arc matters, because a 74-minute album needs a reason to keep going. Here the reason is written into the running order. Each block of titles hands off to the next. On paper at least, the record moves from climbing to hustling to settling down.

For reference points, start with Vybz Kartel and Romain Virgo. Kartel built a catalogue that runs from street tunes to love songs in patois-first writing. Slash Music has also listed him among D Signature’s influences. Virgo, by contrast, is a Jamaican singer whose lovers-rock ballads suit the love songs that close Miles. As a result, listeners who keep both in rotation will find the album easy to place.

The Running Order of Miles, From N-jay Dadz to Brina British

The structure rewards a front-to-back listen. N-jay Dadz is the first voice alongside D Signature, on the opener Mountain to Climb. He returns on Tell Yuh Bout, Broken Voice, Sometimes and Universal Law. All five of those guest spots fall inside the first twelve tracks. From Wen Di Dice Toss onward, D Signature carries the record alone for ten songs. Then Brina British joins him on the final track, Why.

That split reads as a plan. The collaborative first half sets out the ground. After that, the solo second half is where the writer takes the verse back. The guest placement also keeps one voice from running too long, the usual risk for a record this size.

From the RapStar.News Curator Team: “D Signature gives the last word on Miles to a guest. After twenty-two tracks, Why turns the album into a conversation. A record that opened on a mountain to climb closes on a question. That is a writer thinking about the whole hour.”

Where to Stream D Signature Miles and Follow the Writer

So who is Miles for? Reggae and dancehall listeners who want an album to make its case over an hour rather than across three singles. It also suits anyone who found D Signature through Chances, his duet with Nikol Brown, and wants more of that voice. And it suits the listener who reads a tracklist before pressing play, because here the titles reward the habit.

The full album plays in the Spotify and YouTube players above, and it also streams on Apple Music. Follow D Signature on Spotify, Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, ReverbNation and his YouTube channel.
