D Signature Landslide Turns Loyalty and Betrayal Into Dancehall-Tinged Soul

The London-Based Jamaican Artist Built an Eleven-Track Album Around Trust and Second Chances

D Signature released Landslide on 19 August 2023, and it still reads as the clearest statement of what the artist does. Eleven tracks move between Alternative R&B, Contemporary R&B and Dancehall. Holding them together is a set of themes that keeps circling back: loyalty, betrayal, and whether anyone deserves another chance.

D Signature holds several slots in the playlist below, and his artist profile collects this network’s coverage of the London-based Jamaican singer. Landslide was certified for these pages by PopHits.Co Music Charts, an editorial programme that verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news desks. Eleven tracks is a sitting, so queue it and read the rest at leisure.

D Signature Landslide Puts Alternative R&B Vocals Over Dancehall Rhythm

The blend is the point. D Signature, born Davion Linton Gowie in Saint Mary, Jamaica and now based in London, writes from both sides of that geography. The vocal approach belongs to contemporary soul, patient and conversational. The rhythmic instinct comes from Dancehall, and it never gets sanded down to make the songs easier to file.

That combination is more common as a marketing line than as an actual sound. Plenty of R&B records borrow a dancehall bounce for one single, then drop it. Across eleven tracks, Landslide keeps both in play. The album has to commit to the rhythm rather than visiting it.

The writing carries the same double character. Songs about betrayal usually go one of two ways: accusation or self-pity. D Signature mostly avoids both, staying in the more uncomfortable middle where trust has been damaged and no decision has been made yet.

That holds across the tracklist. Eleven songs is a lot of room to fill, and albums this length often pad the back half. Here the themes keep turning over instead. Loyalty gets examined from the position of the person who gave it, then from the position of the person who broke it.

Chances, Nikol Brown And The Most Direct Moment On D Signature Landslide

The clearest example is Chances, the duet with Nikol Brown that got its own official video. The track sits in contemporary R&B with urban pop edges. Its central line, “Would you take chances with me?”, states the album’s whole thesis in seven words.

A duet is the right form for that question. Two voices can hold opposing positions without the song resolving them, and the arrangement leaves room for both to sound unconvinced. It is the most direct moment on the record, and probably the best entry point for a new listener.

Slash Music covered the track and read it the same way, describing the tension between two people drawn to each other yet not quite ready to trust.

RapStar.News’s curator team: “What separates Landslide from most genre-blending R&B albums is that the dancehall element is structural, not decorative. The rhythm shapes how the vocal phrases land. Take it out and these songs would need rewriting, not just remixing.”

Vybz Kartel, Popcaan And The Line Into Contemporary Soul

D Signature has named Vybz Kartel, Bob Marley and Popcaan among the influences behind the work, and the lineage is audible.

Vybz Kartel is the reference for delivery. That habit of riding a rhythm conversationally, letting words sit slightly behind the beat rather than locking to it, runs through the album’s dancehall-leaning tracks.

Popcaan points at the other half. His records made melodic dancehall a legitimate vehicle for vulnerable writing, which is exactly the space Landslide works in.

For listeners approaching from the UK side, Cleo Sol is the useful comparison. Her records treat restraint and reflection as strengths rather than as a lack of energy. Landslide shares that temperament even when the rhythm underneath is busier.

Those are stylistic reference points, not claims of association. What they share with this record is a willingness to let a serious subject sit inside music people can still move to.

Where To Stream Landslide And Follow D Signature

The catalogue has kept growing since 2023. Miles arrived in 2024 as a twenty-three-track set, Peace Is Amatory followed in 2025, and new singles have landed through 2026. For an independent artist working across two countries and several genres, that output rate is worth noting on its own.

Stream Landslide in full on Spotify, and follow the wider discography on the Spotify artist page or the YouTube channel. There is more on SoundCloud.

For everything else, D Signature posts across Instagram, TikTok, X and Facebook.

Start with Chances, then play the album straight through.
