As a young boy growing up in a mid-sized town in Sweden, Omar began rapping with his mother when he was 14-15 along with his mother, and then quickly developed his singing skills after getting bored with rapping.

In early 2018, Omar’s mother passed away before his 18th birthday, forcing him to face tragedy. Rather than traditional therapy, he dealt with his depression by making music, which led to the creation of his alter ego SoLonely.

He realized that thousands of other people had the same feelings of loneliness and could relate to his music after uploading his songs to Youtube and Soundcloud.

Melancholic hooks and solid hooks drew people’s attention to emotional music worldwide. With only simple static videos, songs like “I try” and “If I die” quickly accumulated thousands of views and millions of plays on streaming services. SoLonely remained anonymous for some time, not showing his face or revealing much about his past.
