1969 by L3O: Aesthetics And Ambitious Hip-Hop Experimentation Blending R&B Into a Pop Fusion

Will Lisil 10 October 2022

When it comes to experimental sounds of R&B, Alex Leon is no stranger to the scene. Despite his unconventional flow, he is able to create a mysterious aura that attracts a wide range of listeners.

A native of Miami, Florida, “L3O” puts a lot of effort into creating a sound that is unique, tasteful and different from anything else out there. Since he began making music in 2015, his captivating sonic delivery has been perfected by the years since he began making music in 2015.

Various projects, such as “Latency”, provide a point of view that many upcoming artists will be able to relate to when it comes to letting go and achieving something greater.

L3O released his album “1969”

The album 1969, from a creative standpoint, brings together genres of pop and soul in making a perfect marriage of timeless songs that combine also hip-hop and pop perfectly.

L3O’s latest album 1969 is not conventional but brings a little bit to everyone. It is a 7-track, experimental blend that combines alternative R&B with hip-hop which makes it suitable for a diversified audience. The songwriter, producer and singer are based in Jacksonville, Florida, so the cultural mix is also present in his work.

This demonstrates his aim to not follow any trends and chooses to make music with his own sound. With influences such as Kanye West, it is easy to see the level at which L3O is aiming.

From calming “Blue Skies P.T.L.L.” or summery “Villtropolis” to more psychedelic “Morgellons” and sexy “1969”, the album 1969 features various styles but still keeps a coherent structure throughout it.

The United States hip-hop scene is a hotbed of new talent and experimentation, and L3O is one of the artists leading the charge.

We can say his new album, 1969, is as ambitious as it is relaxing, featuring 7 tracks that blend R&B into a pop fusion with an alternative pop sound that for sure makes you move your body in seconds. We just loved it!

The album starts off strong with tracks that are innovative and features some of L3o’s most experimental production yet. It contains some smooth R&B vocals that are quickly joined by a hip-hop beat and bassline, which then builds up to include some piano riffs and guitar licks as well as horns.

The result is an album that feels like it could be on the radio, a soundtrack for your next Netflix binge or a chill-out session—or all of them!

If you’re looking for something chill but still upbeat enough for you to move your body to, check out all tracks on this album. Visit his website and follow him on Spotify.
